Best Friend!

You flew from the hinterland
And, landed on our sand
I gave to you, in friendship,my hand
it grew stronger with a spell cast by a wand

Every moment we spent together,
Every conversation we had with each other,
Every journey we travelled with one another,
were so precious, I still remember.

For you, I have been a guiding eye
I have always been your third brother
Your second mother,
And gave you a shoulder, to cry

For me, you have been a listening ear,
An empathizing heart,
A consoling hand, when hurt,
the relation with you, was near and dear

I truly miss those days
when we were back at college
all those pranks and plays
Hope We can go back to that age!

P.S. :-

The roasted corn, the dadus sweets,
The KFC crushers, the strawberry crush,
The alu toast, the KnC cake
Ah!!! I miss them all :((

Rajula this for you!!
Nivv and Sar :D ... dont feel J .. hehe yours will come soon too :) :P

Outrageous Rules!!!

The way today’s education system is and the rules laid by it are really ridiculous. Coming to a particular example, U.S. universities are more concerned about the years of study than the matter of study. They have this dumb rule which says, “only those with 4years of baccalaureate degree equivalent to that of U.S. baccalaureate degree are eligible to apply for masters”. I call it a “ridiculous” rule because though engineering students have a 4 year degree; b.com students with 3 year degree have better basic knowledge as to the subjects in MBA. But, it’s really sad that they don’t identify this fact.

Not just the educational system but also what they impart is absurd. Here, I can give an example of Indian methods of education and the syllabi of subjects in Indian universities. I do not want to criticize it completely because it also depends on a student how he makes use of what he learns. The methods used in imparting education are still conventional and monotonous. The monologue delivered by teachers with regard to the subject is a sheer waste as it does not seep through the students’ minds. I would like to clarify that I am referring to majority of the universities and not to all of them.

The immense pressure on students by teachers and the parents in India also resulted in several extreme levels of stress among the students and even to number of suicides. Not just my college, there must be many colleges and schools which burden the students with unnecessary projects thereby wasting their time. The amount of effort and time used to work on such unnecessary projects can instead be used for better purposes. For example, one of the T.I.M.E. sirs, Mr. R.K.P. rightly said “St.Francis students find hardly any time in preparing for CAT because all their lecturers eat up their students’ time in giving unwanted projects”. Such projects not only involve physical and mental stress but also include financial stress on part of the students. Everything is commercialized. Thirst for higher ranks may even drive some students to get done their projects by professionals by paying a sum. Projects done in such manner serve no purpose to students.

Today, it’s unaffordable to many parents even to provide primary education to their children. Even the pre-kg kids are burdened with heavy backpacks. Dude! He is in pre-kg, and he is not going to write his IAS exam!

Having limited knowledge about Global education systems, limits my examples to only Indian and U.S. Universities. There may be several such loopholes in various education systems. I am waiting for a day when these institutions understand what rules are meant for. Rules should prove beneficial rather than pain to people. Rules such as following the uniform, coming dressed decently tries to impart discipline to students. It establishes a sense of belonging towards their institution. But rules such as compulsory 4 years degree are baseless. They don’t serve any purpose.

P.S:- Dedicated to all those who have 3 years baccalaureate degree and who face such predicaments.

A Girl's Anguish!

Should I consider being born as a girl a boon or a bane? This question often popped up in my mind at many situations. Why can’t girls get the freedom which the boys can get? Why can’t girls, even today, stroll on the roads at midnight? Why are girls not allowed to be good friends to guys? Why should girls do the cooking? Why should girls leave their parents after marriage? Why should girls compromise with everything at a future stage of life? (I feel so outrageous that I even want to ask a question – “Why girls alone should get pregnant?” – I really am not expecting any crap answers like “ For scientific reasons” - My question is “Why are even scientific reasons unfavorable to girls?” ).

Anyway, some of the above questions relating to freedom and the like may not really apply to all the girls. But I am talking about those girls whose parents are orthodox even today. Of course, no complaints and offence to parents, it’s the society which causes in them the “fear” for their children. Their “fear” is always scrupulous. But whatever it is, ultimately some of the girls really miss out on few most beautiful things in their life due to confinement. However, I am lucky enough for I feel sad for those who suffer worse conditions than I do. In fact, I feel I am lucky to have parents who are neither too orthodox nor too extrovert. Keeping aside the emotional aspect, freedom was not really the thing which made me write this piece. It’s something else.

I feel ridiculous to listen to statements like “ Inka nee pelli cheseddam, malli mummy ki opika undadu” (Let’s get you married for your mom might not have the required faculty then!). WHAT THE HELL? Why do they emotionally blackmail their daughters to get married? Why do they feel them more as a burden than as a responsibility? Its’ not the kids who need to grow up! But it’s the parents who need to change their mindset. Marriage is not a degree or masters to force one’s child to take it up. It’s her LIFE! Why don’t they realize such small thing? I really hate it more when such parents have a daughter who is industrious and wants to study further with complete perseverance. Why don’t they realize that she wants to achieve something for THEM?! This is one of the two reasons which made me blurt out the anguish.

Most of the boys, let me stress it again, I am referring to MOST not ALL, most of the boys do not understand what girls encounter in a married life. A girl leaves her parents and serves the guy’s parents who did nothing for her at least till that day. Not that I am against a girl serving in- laws, but she would always wish to serve her parents the same way! By the time she reaches the age when she is ready to take up a family’s responsibility, the recipients of such service are different. Why can’t they be her own parents who did so much for her? A girl makes several compromises in her married life. Most of them fail to share what they endure, with their partners for they fail to recognize HER CONTRIBUTIONS towards their FAMILY! I don’t say boys don’t compromise in their married lives but the extent of compromise is much less than that made by girls in MOST cases. That deals with my second reason to write today.

A girl’s life is not easy guys! Respect her for what she undertakes. Support her morally in achieving her dreams. Acknowledge her worth, her importance in your life. Credit her for the responsibilities she take up. For her, the world is a miniscule. Fill her dwarf world with surprises. Make her feel fortunate to live a GIRL’s Life!

P.S.: Nowhere in the above article, there was reference to anyone in particular. Incidents in the lives of people in my surroundings, their views motivated me to write this. And by the way! I am not so depressed :D … I get such depressing thoughts only st particular disparaging situations. I am a HAPPPY GIRL :P

A "Sonnet" ( I claim it to be one :P )

Hey friends! Here's a "Sonnet" for you. Well before I post it, let me explain what a "Sonnet" is to those who do not know what it is. A "Sonnet" is a 14 lines poem in which, the first 6 lines comprises of a problem and the remaining 8 lines convey a solution to that problem.

The "Sonnet" i wrote may not be the perfect example of its actual kind, but I claim it to be one of its kind. So all sorts of criticism are welcomed. The theme of my "Sonnet" is rather a general problem than a personal one. So it is not intended at anyone. It's just some random topic with my friend which made me write such a poem.

It goes like this ...

It is no more the same! The way we talk , the way we mock
Evrything seems to you so lame! Be it a Hi! or be it a Bye!
I try to be as patient as I can! But, at every word I speak
You throw at my face a pan! Everytime acting like a freak!
Harder I try To bring back those moments,
More you make me cry with your pitiless comments!
It is you, it is me , Who can get back those moments again
So why not we, together regain those moments!
Let us break the evil spell , Caste on our friendship
How?, that we both know enough, well!
Let us remember how we used to be, Let us not take an advantage
Of each other, however close we might be. To bring those days back, we need courage.
Respect each other's opinion, We will! Share our thoughts, only to care
All the sad memories, we will kill! Commit these mistakes again, let us not dare!

Please leave your suggestions.
Cheers!
Soumya

Why wait???

All these days, I have been waiting to write an article in my (so called) Blog! ... Was waiting for a right time, right story or right incident in order to write one! .. But, I just realised , yesterday night!! (while preparing for my first final semester final exam :P ) That why am I even waiting for the right time!!! ... You need some "auspicious time" to write just a simple article???!! ... "NO" .... Why am i waiting for the right story?? ... when there are thousands of things happening not just around world .. but just around me! ... should i still wait for a story?? .. "NO" ... 'Waiting for a right incident?' .. "Shut it girl! there are "n" no. of things going around in your mind... you have to make choice! " was what I told myself! ... Then c'mon .. "let me give my blog a life!" was what I thought! ... And by the time i thought about all the above stuff, I was feeling sleepy :P .. so thought would get back to it the next day ... and that's today .. and that's why i am here!!

Huh!! Great nonsense in the above para I know.. but can't help it! ... atleast this is the place where it gives me the complete freedom to express what I went through, be it a minute thought or a major cooking up of the brain!

I am sure many are going to raise their eyebrows after reading the poem i am gonna post at the end .... but relax guys!! ... it is just one of the poems i wrote ... and it's all about my friends' experiences... general view of love .... common experiences by many and the very common stories! ... So better not arrive at any conclusions... And btw (by the way!) I thank blogspot.com for enabling me to throw light on my hidden talents .. :P ... lol .. and yeah! basically i decided to start blogging so that it would help me in my GMAT :P ... :D ... Finally here comes my poem
dedicated to all those people who can relate themselves with those lines :)

Should I feel lucky? Should I feel UNLUCKY?
Should I Feel I am not fit? Should I feel he is not fit?
Why does it sometimes feel so IRKY?
Why are these thoughts always in the form of a split?

It is not me, It is not YOU
It is most of us, who go through
This phase, except the lucky, FEW
It still remains unanswered, neither false nor true!

Many cheerful moments have been spent TOGETHER
You share sorrow, you share love, you share work, you share joy
It takes all this to understand one ANOTHER
When you think of all these moments, you feel elated, Oh,Boy!

I tried to chuck all the ants in PANTS
Everytime, I tried to find in this mess, something rosy
All was futile, but it all revived only when i was captivated, by his mesmerising CHANTS!
All his efforts only made me feel even more cosy

Why i love him so much, there's no REASON
The amount of love may seem like an endless ocean
We love , we fight, we are together, be it any SEASON
All this is too good, I am afraid!, its not my imagination

Some express some don't, some pour out some DON'T
Some show it all at once, some store it for the right time
When i ask with insecurity "will u get bored of me?", he says he WON'T
Trust him,Stand by him,Love him, I will, through out my lifetime!

P.S:- Please do comment about the entire blog .. not just the poem ... this is my first article .. really seeking to improve with the help of your valuable comments:)
